Spring is almost here everyone! Soon we’ll be out golfing in the evening!
Thoughts are going on regarding new teesigns at the two parks! You can sponsor a hole for $25 dollars!
Also, we’ll be announcing workdays to get the concrete teepads finished at the dam.
Mike is scheduling a meeting with Hickory Run to see what we can do to at the park. He’s going to see if the park can contribute any money or labor for any upgrades.
Stay tuned!!

Big Arm Doubles, September 26, 2009 @ Prompton

The Bearclaws Disc Golf Association and the Pocono Disc Golf Association will join forces to host BIG ARM DOUBLES Saturday, September 26 at the Prompton Lake Disc Golf Course, Prompton, Pa. Prompton is located four miles outside of Honesdale, Pa.
This event is a “bring your own partner” doubles tournament celebrating the return of Disc Golf at Prompton. This will be the first event held at Prompton since the 2004 Big Arm Classic and the subsequent two-year Prompton Lake Dam Expansion Project.
Entry fees will be $50 for Pro teams and $30 for both advanced and intermediate amateur teams. Mixed (male/female) divisions will also be offered. Cash payouts will go to the pros while prizes will be awarded to amateurs. There will also be closest to the pin contests as well as a between-round closest to the beverage contest.
Registration will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. with tee time slated for 9:30 p.m. sharp.
The tournament will consist of two rounds. The first round will be played to the short (Yellow) baskets while the second round will be played to the long (Red) baskets. Bring your Big Arm as the Red baskets total 8,201 feet. For those unfamiliar with Prompton, there is a single tee pad with two baskets on each hole.
Information on the event, as well as contact information, are listed in the event flyer. Click on the link below to view the flyer in PDF format. GPS Directions to Prompton are also listed at the bottom of the flyer.
Many players in Northeastern Pennsylvania began playing disc golf at Prompton and the course has been sorely missed. Seven holes have been changed/altered due to the dam expansion project and have made the course even more challenging that before.
Join the celebration and welcome back Prompton in a big way.

The Bearclaws Disc Golf Association Proudly Presents:

DO IT FOR THE DAM VI
(A fund-raising tournament to benefit course improvements at F.E. Walter Dam)
Saturday, August 22, 2009
@ Francis E. Walter Dam Disc Golf Course
Lake Harmony, Pa.
Come and play our sixth Do it for the Dam event as the Bearclaws D.G.A. continue to make improvements to the Francis E. Walter Dam Disc Golf Course.
After installing 15 new baskets over the last five years, the Bearclaws are now turning our attention to much needed cement tee pads. Since we receive no funding from the state or county, raising funds for such a project falls squarely on the Bearclaws D.G.A. So whether you are a tournament player, or just a casual player who brings out the family, this project will directly benefit YOU as well as the entire disc golf community!!! We need your help!
We hope you are able to attend the tournament to aid the cause. If not, any monetary donation you are able to make will be greatly appreciated. Contact either Mike Solt or Bob Ziadie if you wish to make a donation but cannot play the event. The bottom line is, let’s all DO IT FOR THE DAM!!!!!
Information on the event, as well as contact info for Mike and Bob, are listed in the event flyer. Click on the link below to view the flyer in PDF format.
We hope to see you then!

Here are the results of the 2009 Hickory Run Ice Bowl at Hickory Run State Park. We had an Ice Bowl Record 87 players show up for our annual charity event.
Thanks to all who came out to play and also to those who made donations and competed for the closest to the basket contest which raised over $150 for Ending Childhood Hunger. Also there were two separate ace pots $1 and $5 that were not hit and those monies also go to the the charity. The preliminary estimation is in the neighboorhood of $800 going to Ending Childhood Hunger.
Thanks to Tom Williams, Pat Luchowski, Mike Padgett, Larry Enz, Gene Phillips, Jason Welliver, Alan Mindas, Rob Stahlnecker, CSC (don’t know your real name) with helping clear/rock salt tee boxes either days before the event or the morning of the tournament. If I missed anyone, I apologize.
Thanks to Jason Welliver, Eric Eichhorst, and Pat Luchowski for making prize donations.
And thanks to everyone who brought so much great food for the Soup/Chili Cookoff Challenge!!!
Stay tuned for updates about upcoming Bearclaw events!
